Anita Brown – Metropolitan Funeral

Anita Brown was born on June 15, 1959, in Germany to Mr. James and Mrs. Lucille Brown.

At an early age, Anita worshipped at First Lutheran Church of Portsmouth. She graduated from Deep Creek High School and was an employee at Hampton Roads Transit (HRT). She was known as “Glam Mom” at the Turquoise School of Dance.  She was also a dedicated baton twirl coach to her granddaughter Skyy. Anita was a daughter of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Norfolk where she served in the following ministries: Missionary and Evangelist Ministry, Faith in Action Usher Ministry, Noah’s Ark Nursery Ministry, and the C.V Russell Jr. Ambassador Marching Band. Anita enjoyed spending time in the yard and planting flowers in her garden. Anita also had a passion for creating unique arts and crafts using rhinestones.

On Tuesday, December 15, 2021, Anita exchanged time for eternity. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Tamika Brown, two sons, Phillip and Matthew; four grandchildren, D’Nizha “Tink” Davenport, Darrell “Duke” Vines, Skyy Vines, Gezelle “Squalk” Vines, Andrea Brown, Isaiah Thomas, Sharmoni Bynum, and Phaliq Brown.  Two Sisters, Cynthia Brown-Carney, and Beverly Dawson. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. She is predeceased by her father (James Brown, Sr.) and Brother (James Brown, Jr.).
