Olin Johnson Stats & Scouting Report — College Baseball, Mlb Draft, Prospects
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Commit/Drafted: North Carolina
Age At Draft: 18.2
Johnson is an extra-tall, 6-foot-6, 220-pound righthander who still has plenty of physical projection remaining and has trended in the right direction with his fastball velocity this spring. After pitching in the upper 80s and touching 91 in 2022, Johnson has touched 92-93 mph during the 2023 season. He has also shown some potential with a big breaking ball with two-plane break that could be an out pitch with added power. Johnson’s low-80s changeup has nice fading action and could become a solid offspeed offering to give him a complete three-pitch arsenal. There’s a decent amount of effort in Johnson’s delivery, and he has length to his arm action as well, but there are a lot of positive indicators here. He is committed to North Carolina.
